-
- Startup Problems
-
- If you have any trouble running Insight, check the system requirements
- to make sure that the program is compatible with your computer.
-
- Not enough memory
-
- Insight needs 512K of free memory in order to run. If you are unable
- to load Insight, or are having other problems, you might not have
- enough free memory.
-
- Use the DOS CHKDSK command to check the how much free memory your
- computer has for running programs. To run the CHKDSK command, at
- the C: prompt type:
-
- CHKDSK
-
- and press the <Enter> key. Your computer will display a list. The
- last line of the list shows the amount of free memory that is
- available for running programs. If this number is not 512K or
- greater, you do not have enough free memory to run Insight. You
- will need to free some of your memory before you can run the
- program.
- _____________________________________________________________________
-
- A Word about TSRs and RAM Disks...
-
- TSRs (Terminate and Stay Resident programs) are programs that stay
- loaded in RAM even after they have been executed; they continue to
- occupy RAM, even when another program is being run.
-
- Although Insight can adapt to find the free RAM on your computer, if
- too much memory has been given over to the use of TSRs and RAM disks,
- it may not find enough memory to run. Small TSRs and RAM disks
- should cause no memory problems, but you may need to abort or remove
- large ones if you have problems installing or running Insight.
- _____________________________________________________________________
-
- Message: Not enough EMS/disk space
-
- If you have an Expanded Memory Manager like EMM386 or QEMM running, try
- increasing the amount of EMS installed. If you don't have EMS
- installed or if you can't increase its amount, try to free up more
- disk space by removing any unnecessary files from the hard disk on
- which Insight is installed.
-
- Message: Not enough file handles
-
- This means that Insight does not have enough file handles available
- to run.
-
- The number of files that can be open at the same time in DOS is
- controlled by the "files" command in your config.sys file. Insight
- needs a minimum of 10.
-
- Add or modify your config.sys file to read:
- files=10
-
- If your config.sys file is already set at least to 10, or you are
- running in the Windows environment, try increasing "files," by 10, to
- the number you already have.
-
- If none of the above suggestions get Insight running, try re-
- installing the software from the distribution disk.

-
- Bird's Eye
-
- Bird's Eye opens a popup viewing window on the screen that
- contains a smaller version of the overview image. This display window
- is used to establish a new area for viewing, based on relative
- positioning to the full image. Bird's Eye can be used to zoom and
- pan.
-
- Once summoned, the area of the image that you are currently viewing in Bird's Eye is
- outlined with a green rectangle. If you are viewing the entire
- overview in Bird's Eye, you won't see the rectangle. To view a
- different area of the image, press and hold the <RMouse> to drag the
- rectangle to another section of the overview. This is panning. You can
